CHANGE THE COLOR OF YOUR JEWELRY WITH ANODIZING!

February 20, 2025

What Is Anodizing?

Anodizing is a process that adds vibrant colors to titanium with an electrochemical process that alters the surface of a metal by creating an oxide layer. Unlike plating, which adds an external coating, anodizing modifies the surface itself, making it more durable and resistant to corrosion.

How Does Anodizing Work?

The anodizing process involves submerging the jewelry in an electrolytic solution and applying an electric current. This causes oxygen to bond with the metal’s surface, forming an oxide layer. The thickness of this layer determines the color seen, as light refracts differently based on its depth. Since no pigments or dyes are added, anodized jewelry retains its biocompatibility and won’t chip or fade like painted or coated jewelry.

Anodizing Benefits

    •    Hypoallergenic & Safe – doesn’t introduce foreign substances, titanium jewelry remains safe for piercings.

    •    Durable & Long-Lasting – The oxide layer enhances corrosion resistance, preventing tarnishing or wear.

    •    Lightweight & Comfortable – Titanium is naturally lightweight, making anodized jewelry easy to wear for long periods.

    •    Aesthetic Variety – From golds and purples to deep blues and greens, anodized jewelry provides a spectrum of vibrant colors without compromising metal integrity.

Caring for Anodized Jewelry

To keep anodized jewelry looking its best, avoid harsh chemicals, excessive friction, or ultrasonic cleaners, as these can degrade the oxide layer over time. Instead, gently clean with mild soap and warm water.

Anodizing is a brilliant way to add color and personality to jewelry without sacrificing quality or safety. Whether you’re looking for a bold statement piece or a subtle pop of color, anodized titanium jewelry is a fantastic choice!
